Mitchell Wedding – The Priest House Hotel, Castle Donington

Heading through the Leicestershire countryside we were headed towards Castle Donington for our first wedding of the year. We turned off down a little country road and drove for a few minutes when out of nowhere popped The Priest House Hotel.  The luxury hotel is set beautifully overlooking the River Trent and even has its own water wheel and quaint but stylish little 17th century cottages nestled neatly near the river bank that are also available to hire.

The Bride and Bridal Party were preparing to start their day when I arrived and it wasn’t long before the champagne came out, the photography flowed and the calmness could be felt. Talking to the Bride, Terri, she had told me the wedding had been planned on an ‘everybody lends a hand’ theme and had been perfectly planned with family members and friends each having a role in aspects of the day. The maid of honor did all the hair and make-up for the girls, the brides sister played music in the ceremony, a friend baked and decorated the wedding cake and even the bride’s mum handmade each of the bridesmaids dresses. The outcome of all were unbelievably stunning.

‘Having everybody lend a hand not only took away some of the stress of our wedding, but it also made everyone feel more involved in the planning and pretty much every detail involved. Our friends and family worked really hard to make our day special and it really did add to our day knowing that everybody was involved in some way.’

The wedding ceremony and reception were both held at the hotel and I’m sure the happy couple (who had a fantastic luxury suite in the tower part of the hotel!) had a fantastic day. Many congratulations guys!

{Point Blank Weddings} Current Winter Wedding trends 2012

With so many glamorous styles appearing over the winter…themed weddings are becoming a huge trend, especially for those looking for something different, creative and personal. With lace and vintage being this years main winners the two styles merge perfectly into most (if not all) themes. From the 1920′s, Glamorous 1940′s Hollywood, Vintage chic, to Princess bride, this season has been filed with the most wonderful chance to add vintage details/touches to your wedding making them more personal. Why not make a bouquet from your Grandma’s brooch collection, it creates a wonderfully unique bespoke posy and a truly personal keepsake from the day and can also be included as your something ‘old’ for all the traditional folk still out there :)

Current Winter Wedding trends 2012

The Great Gatsby, with many brides loving the elegance, sophistication and decadence this era offers, its hard to find a reason why you wouldn’t want a spectacular 1920′s themed day. With short flapper style bridesmaid dresses, vintage Finger Waved hair, and even jeweled/laced bridal caps, the 1920′s is defiantly the decade of choice for many brides.

The ‘Fairytale Princess’ theme is also hugely popular with many brides looking at Disney for inspiration. Just think full, layered skirts, elegant materials such as lace and organza, bead-work, crystals, pearls, and shimmer. The bigger the better! With the elegant, delicate detailing on simple dresses why not add that extra touch of sparkle and add your newly created brooch bouquet! A fantastic way to add extra bling and glamor to even the simplest of dresses.

Melton Toys Xmas Tour

With the festive season upon us and now in full swing for the visit of Santa Claus, James Colclough proprietor of the very fine Melton Toys asked us photographers at Point Blank Photography to update his Google Places page, Facebook and website with his very own personalised 360 Google tour of his toy shop to show off all the lovely goodies on sale.

We absolutely love browsing through his shop when taking all the photographs for his tour, sometimes it doesn’t even feel like work to us.

James has been a good sport and a bit of a guinea pig for us in the early stages of the Google Business Photos project, he was the first toy shop in the Midlands to use the new technology supplied by Point Blank Photography and now really uses the power of Google tours for his business, this is the second tour we have created for the toy shop this year as James was so pleased with the response and extra views he had online from his previous version, he thought outside of the box and ran a competition to spot toys in the store with prizes up for grabs for the lucky spotters which we thought was a brilliant idea.

If you think you could benefit from a 360 interactive virtual tour of your business supplied by Jay Pickersgill or Kate Daniels of Point Blank Photography in conjunction with the Google Business Photos project then please get in touch via email or phone and we will come and visit your business a give you a FREE evaluation of what you need and how much it will cost.

Merry Xmas

{PointBlank Weddings} Designer Vintage Bridal

Keep bang on trend this season with giving your wedding a designer vintage theme. Think creative, personalize the details, and select a theme that suits you both and reflects your individual personalities.

With the start of 2013′s wedding fayre’s and shows just around the corner why not add an extra date into your diary and visit the Designer Vintage Bridal Show in Birmingham on Sunday 20th January 2013 where exhibitors such as Sarah Russell who specializes in vintage hair and make-up to the fantastic Vintage Gowns showcased at The Wedding Club that truly capture the luxury vintage feel and glamour that Hollywood has to offer every bride. Its a great day out if you are planning a wedding, why not see what else can be done to set your wedding apart from the norm and to find quirky pieces that are truly one off. And just after Christmas, what a great day out to take your mind off winter and still have that Christmassy charm and appeal.

I also watched Kirstie Allsopp’s Vintage Home this week on channel 4 that featured Kirstie helping a couple prepare for their dream vintage themed wedding. It was lovely to see the personalization you can stamp on your wedding and how getting everybody involved in the preparation and making can really bring a wedding together! The show featured laser cut invitations, brewing a wedding beer, making your own rings, and quite a lot more. Loved it! Check out the link above to view clips on each element featured on the show.

Don’t forget PointBlank Photography’s vintage inspired wedding photography is a great way to capture your designer vintage wedding or quirky themed day and have images that capture the love and feeling of the day through not only using digital but also polaroid, diana and other exciting retro photography formats.

Keep posted for more info on Vintage Inspired Weddings, how to tips, where to find items locally and current fashion and catwalk trends.

{Point Blank Weddings} What we do

Hi, welcome to PointBlank Weddings Blog…..

We are a team of creative wedding photographers that enjoy capturing your wedding day from start to finish with all the special moments captured in between. We are confident that our specialist team of vintage and contemporary photographers ensure we create stylish and beautiful images for you to treasure forever. We love to view each wedding we do through a creative lens; showing the details, the mishaps, the laughter, the tenderness, the style, and the emotion in a retro vintage style, or DVB (Designer Vintage Bridal) which is currently on trend for Winter Weddings this year leading into 2013.

Whether you are planning a rockabilly themed day, a spectacular country house wedding or a traditional church wedding…there’s no wedding too big or small, too intimate or flamboyant that we can’t do…it’s what sets us apart from other photographers and mostly…..its what we love to do.

Our photographers have a knowledge of classical and contemporary photography that they mix to create unique photographs from your wedding day, blending traditional black & white photography with Polaroid and ‘Designer Vintage Bridal’ photography. Along with adding a sprinkle of magic to your photographs, we love to get creative….using reportage/candid style photography to really get the intimate moments and naturalness from the day, capturing some of those special moments that even you may not notice happening.

Keep following our new wedding blog to keep up to date with what we’re doing, how to tips and what is in style and where to find it locally, there’s certainly more to see and read about at PointBlank Photography!
